What we know to be true
NeuralQ's mission is to rebuild the world's software as systems that think.
That is a large sentence. Here is what stands behind it.
Most software is assembled, not engineered.
Open almost any production system and you will not find a series of decisions. You will find a series of defaults — a cloud picked because of a credit, a database picked because of a tutorial, a model vendor picked because it was in the news that quarter. None of it was chosen. All of it is now load-bearing.
The result is an industry where the pricing page of a company you have never met can quietly decide what your product is permitted to become.
We do not think this is inevitable. We think it is a habit.
Ownership is the precondition for intelligence.
A system you cannot change end to end cannot be made to think. Intelligence is not a feature you install on top of an architecture — it is a property of an architecture that can be reshaped as fast as you learn.
If four of your layers belong to someone else, you can only be as intelligent as the slowest of them will allow.
Everything outside the core must be replaceable.
This is our one non-negotiable engineering rule, and it is not a preference.
No cloud, database, storage, payment, email, or model vendor may appear in our core domain’s types or logic. Each of those categories sits behind an interface we own. Each interface has a working free implementation behind it today. Moving to a paid one is a configuration change.
We wrote this rule down before we wrote the product, because rules adopted after the fact are not rules.
Cost is an architectural outcome, not a budget line.
We run production at zero mandatory fixed infrastructure cost. This is not a free-tier trick or a credits programme, both of which expire. It is what the previous belief produces when you actually enforce it.
Companies that treat infrastructure cost as something to negotiate later end up negotiating their roadmap instead.
Simple until proven otherwise.
We run a modular monolith, not microservices. Postgres-backed queues, not Kafka. We draw the boundaries early so the split is possible, and we refuse to pay for the split until something real demands it.
Most complexity in modern software is not solving a problem the company has. It is solving a problem the company has read about.
Signals are not verdicts.
Our systems produce measurements. Measurements are directional, shaped by context, language, and conditions we cannot fully see. We say so plainly rather than dressing a number up as a judgement.
Software that overstates its own certainty is not intelligent. It is just confident.

There is a version of the Indian software industry that exists to execute someone else’s specification well. We are not interested in being excellent at that. We are interested in the specification.
